Turiya has a team of dedicated and forward thinking individuals dedicated to finding solutions for you.

Ian Scanlan, CEO

Ian grew up in Victoria, BC. He has a degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry and was a member of the national triathlon team in Canada, competing in Ironman events throughout the world. An adventurer at heart, he has spent years exploring the highest places on earth as a high altitude mountaineer and skier in the Himalaya, Alaska, South America, Europe and Africa. He has spent 15 years as an international airline pilot flying aircraft ranging from the DC-3 to the Boeing 747-400 and is passionate about the Amazon, youth education and the potential for positive change through respectful business relationships. He has lived in Brazil for the past four years and speaks Portuguese fluently. He met his business partner, Raf, as they both bore witness to the very limits of human physical potential - as part of a team that saw their friend, Rob Dyke, swim around Vancouver Island in an epic 92 day open ocean adventure as a fund raising event for the Canadian Red Cross.

Rafal Kalus, VP Brazil Operations

Raf is originally from Poland and has lived in Greece and on Vancouver Island. He now calls Manaus home and it is there that he heads up Turiya's business activities in Amazon. Raf is an accomplished photographer who captures the daily realities of people and the places they live. He uses this talent to develop understanding between people living in different circumstances and often on opposite sides of the world. Many of his photos appear in the gallery of this website. Raf is also a professional diver and spent many years exploring some of the most remote sections of the BC coast as well as the frigid waters of Norway. Now dedicated to Turiya's initiative in the Brazilian Amazon, Raf brings his multiple talents to bear as he successfully navigates the waters of ethical business in Brazil.
